The product is a starter-sized plant with an approximate 4-inch-diameter root zone. The plant will be a minimum of 6 to 8 inches tall. It will not have buds or blooms on arrival. Starter-sized plants are intended for a gardener to plant and grow to their mature size.

  • Commonly known as the Golden Trumpet Tree, this is a small-to-medium-sized deciduous tree celebrated for its spectacular floral display. Native to Brazil and Bolivia, its widely planted in warm climates as an ornamental. Its name, chrysotricha, means golden hairs in Greek, referring to the yellowish hairs on its leaves and calyx.
  • This tree typically grows to a height of 20 to 30 feet with a rounded canopy. It has a slightly irregular branching structure. The most striking feature is its profuse flowering. In late winter or early spring, the tree becomes completely covered in large, trumpet-shaped, vibrant golden-yellow flowers before its leaves emerge. The leaves are palmately compound, with five leaflets. After flowering, the tree produces long, narrow seed pods.
  • Care: The golden trumpet tree thrives in full sun and requires well-drained soil. Its quite adaptable to different soil types, including sandy or clay soils, as long as it isnt waterlogged. It is relatively drought-tolerant once established but benefits from regular watering during dry periods, especially when young. Minimal pruning is required.
  • Indoor Growing: While this plant is a frequent choice for Bonsai culture, we do not recommend indoor growing for inexperienced growers with average indoor conditions. This species requires more space, light, warmer temperatures with a day/night differential, and higher humidity than the average indoor growing space provides.
  • Climate: Tabebuia chrysotricha is a tropical to subtropical tree suitable for USDA Hardiness Zones 9-11. It is very heat-tolerant and can withstand brief cold periods, but it is not frost-tolerant and will be damaged or killed by freezing temperatures.
