The story of Hopkins® began in 1949 when R.L. Hopkins, an avid salt water fisherman and experimenter, decided that a better lure was needed. His initial objectives were to develop a lure that could be cast for distance, that had good fish attracting action, and that could withstand the rigors of salt water fishing; a lure that would resist corrosion and be tough enough to handle those trophy-sized fish.
From this, Hopkins® Stainless Steel Lures was born.
We present to you the Hopkins® Shorty Hammered Spoon, a compact spoon lure designed for casting from the beach, shore, or boat. Although designed for the rigors of a saltwater environment, they work equally well in freshwater. The shape of the Shorty mimics shad, peanut bunker and other wider bodied baitfish, and the balanced weight make them an excellent casting lure, even into the wind.
Hopkins® Lures are forged from solid stainless steel stock. All are equipped with stainless steel split rings and all hooks are Mustad.
