Green Jade. Jade is actually the gemstone name for two different mineral forms, Jadeite and Nephrite. These two minerals can be identical in appearance and are similar in their physical properties, and until modern times no distinction was made between the two different types of Jade. While Nephrite is generally only green, cream, or white, Jadeite colors can range through the color spectrum with more exotic colors. Jadeite occurs only in metamorphic rocks, most often in those that have been subjected to the high pressures deep below the Earth's surface. Jadeite is rare; its presence at the surface indicates great uplift of earlier buried regions and great amounts of erosion. Chemical Formula of Jadeite: NaAlSi2O6; Color: Blue, Yellow, Orange; Hardness: 6-7. Blue Jade, also known as Dianite, is type of Jadeite and is a blue ir dark blue colour. Lapis Lazuli. The name is international, from the Latin, lapis, which means stone, and from the Arabic, azul, which means blue. It literally means "blue rock" and is actually a rock rather than a mineral. It is composed of a highly variable mixture of the minerals lazurite, pyrite and calcite. In addition to lazurite, specimens of lapis lazuli usually contain calcite and pyrite. To be called "lapis lazuli," a rock must have a distinctly blue color and contain at least 25% lazurite. Chemical formula: (Na,Ca)8(AlSiO4)6(S,Cl,SO4,OH)2; Hardness: Varies between the 3 of calcite and the 5 to 5.5 of lazurite.Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz and is a popular gemstone. The name "amethyst" comes from the Greek and means "not drunken." This was maybe due to a belief that Amethyst would ward off the effects of alcohol, but most likely the Greeks were referring to the almost wine-like color of some stones that they may have encountered. Amethyst is most prevalent as small stubby pyramidal crystals. Formula: SiO2; Color: Violet - Purple;

  • Red Jasper is an opaque form of Chalcedony, which is a microcrystalline variety of the mineral Quartz. It often contains an abundance of impurities, and therefore some regard it as a rock instead of a mineral. The name jasper derived from a Greek word iaspis meaning 'spotted or speckled stone' because of jasper's speckled varieties. Red jasper is a popular form of jasper due to its rustic red coloring. Chemical Formula: SiO2; Hardness: 6.5 - 7; Color: Red.
  • Aventurine is a variety of Quartz characterized by bright inclusions of Mica or other minerals that give a shimmering or glistening effect to the stone, referred to as aventurescence. Its name is derived from the Italian "a ventura" or "all'avventura", meaning "by chance,". The name Aventurine was later given to the natural stone which looked like the industrial product. Chemical Composition: (SiO2) Silicon Dioxide with inclusions of Mica; Hardness: 7; Color: Orange, Green;
  • Golden Quartz Quartz is one of the most well-known minerals on earth. It occurs in basically all mineral environments, and is the important constituent of many rocks. Quartz is also the most varied of all minerals, occurring in all different forms, habits, and colors. There are more variety names given to Quartz than any other mineral. Although the Feldspars as a group are more prevalent than Quartz, as an individual mineral Quartz is the most common mineral.
